Dave Poteat of Inside Outdoors TV is on the board in Kansas. Here's how his opening-day hunt went down, in his own words:
"The birds only gobbled a handful of times on the limb, and then only twice on the ground. We thought they had gone down the ridge away from us. Then, without warning, out popped one hen followed by seven more, and they all walked within 10 yards of the muzzle of my Versa Max. Then two gobblers popped out. They ran straight to the strutter decoy and started to flog it. I was able to swing the gun 90 degrees to the right and re-position myself — all within 6 or 7 yards of these 10 turkeys. I picked out one of the toms and gave him a Remington Premier #5 headache!"
