Bear, bulls or bucks, you need the right tool for the job and the right gear to maximize your changes of hunting success in the field. If you’re looking to take on a new challenge or pick up a couple gear tips, here’s a few pointers for the gear needed on your next big game hunt.
If you are hunting with an outfitter, guide or buddy, ask them for a list of their must-have gear…chances are, they’ve already got a great running gear list and you can copy their homework.
Beyond of the basics of your rifle, ammo, binoculars, range finder, shooting system (bags, sticks, packs, etc.) and basic apparel, every area you hunt will have its own distinct gear needs dependent on the terrain, temperature, type of hunting and much more. Dig around online on hunting forums like AR15 or Rokslide, or better yet, phone a friend that’s hunted where you want to go.
