Accuracy was my requirement
I am new to deer hunting. I got the bug last Christmas when I shot my very first deer at 65 years old! I borrowed a gun for this event and recently purchased a new 308 and FFP 4x16x44 scope. I purchased 8 different rounds to see what my new gun "liked". Soft points, Polymer tipped, & PSP. I thought I found "the one", and then the scope broke - halting my testing! While I was waiting for the scope to be reviewed and returned, I saw this tipped Corelokt and it just spoke to me. I orderd 100 rounds on-line. The scope was ultimately replaced with a new scope. I was eager to test out this Corelokt tipped in 150gr. I shot 20 rounds getting the scope zero'd. That made the gun quite hot so the final 5 rounds were really not a viable result. The following day I was confident I was close to a good zero at 100 yards. I set up 3 targets; one at 100 yards, one at 200 yards, and one at 300 yards. I used a large 1 inch grid target at all 3 ranges, aiming at the exact same point without adjusting the scope to see the actual bullet drop over distance. I took 3 shots at 100 yards (cold BBL) - right in the bulls eye - resulted in .396 MOA! WOW! The next 3 shots at 200 yards resulted in 1.48 MOA (dropped an avg of 3") and the last 3 shots at 300 yards resulted in 1.29 MOA - dropped an average of 11.5" from the 100 yard zero. That's 8.5" drop from 200 yards. Remington reports a 7.8" drop. I'm right in there! I'm no expert, but this tipped round made me look like one at 100 yards! And I have the confidence to pull the trigger on an animal out to 300 yards. Thank you for making this awesome round!
