Madison, N.C. – In 2007, Remington brought new life into the world of small-caliber centerfire rifle shooting with the introduction of the 17 Remington Fireball. This new cartridge eclipses the popular 17HMR by an astonishing 1450fps and has quickly gained the overwhelming approval of varmint hunters and target shooters alike. New for 2008, Remington has added the Model 700 VSSF II and Model Seven CDL to its list of rifles chambered in 17 Remington Fireball.

The Model 700 VS SF II (Varmint Synthetic Stainless Fluted) utilizes a redesigned H.S. Precision composite stock reinforced with aramid fibers. The textured stock is colored black with green webbing and features a contoured beavertail fore-end with ambidextrous finger grooves, palm swell, and twin front tactical style swivel studs to accommodate both a sling and a bipod. Its unique full-length aluminum bedding block provides enhanced stability and consistent shot-to-shot accuracy.

Constructed of 416 stainless steel, the 26-inch heavy-contour, hammer-forged barrel features six longitudinal flutes for improved weight reduction and heat dissipation. The flutes are powder coated with a black finish for added visual appeal, while the rest of the barreled action is spin polished. The rifle is drilled and tapped for scope mounts and also includes a hinged floorplate magazine, a target-style concave barrel crown, and jeweled bolt.

The handsome Model Seven CDL features a precision-balanced 20-inch satin blued clean barrel with classically styled, American walnut CDL stock. The Model Seven receiver is 1/2 " shorter than a Model 700 short-action receiver, resulting in a quick-handling compact rifle weighting just 6 1/2 lbs; perfectly sized for extended hikes or dense-cover hunting applications.

To complement the inherent accuracy of the 17 Remington Fireball, both models are fitted with the new Remington® X-MARK PRO™ trigger. The X-Mark Pro breaks like glass, has virtually no creep and provides up to 40% lower factory set pull weight.
