This multi-layer process consists of electroless nickel and proprietary PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coatings on the solid stainless steel barreled action. Benefits of this micro-thin coating include superior scratch resistance and virtual corrosion resistance. Fitting this weather-impervious barreled action into a top-of-the-line synthetic stock adds to the toughness of this Model 700. Designed with a rubber overmolding technology from Hogue, this durable stock has easy-gripping, overmolded panels in the grip and fore-end areas.  Other features include clean 24-inch barrel (26-inch barrel length on magnum offerings); drilled and tapped for scope mounts; hinged floorplate; sling swivel studs and the amazing, recoil-reducing R3® Recoil Pad.
