Senior Buyer - Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Remington Arms Company is one of the world's most respected names in sporting goods for hunting and shooting, military and law enforcement. We currently have an opening for a Senior Buyer in our Research and Development Technology Center located in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Primary Responsibilities
Execute the purchasing program management process in support of Remington Product Development System (RPDS) deliverables for Department of Defense (DOD), Commercial, Law Enforcement, Modern and other programs.
• Primary interface between Purchasing and the product development teams.
• Responsible to both, the Product team and Purchasing teams, for the on-time execution of Purchasing deliverables for all RPDS programs (with special emphasis on level 5/6 programs), tracking sourcing, long-lead supplier selection, New Tooled End Item (NTEI).
• Responsible for tracking NPP’s and supporting cost reduction initiatives
• Develops and tracks a consistent Early Sourcing Work Plan methodology to focus sourcing efforts that deliver supplier sourcing by the required RPDS on-board date.
• Manages and tracks carryover component usage to minimize NTEIs and focus efforts on part commonality.
• Tracks program prototype sourcing & pricing to ensure production suppliers are used to the maximum extent possible for NTEIs and prototype pricing is a reasonable extension of production prices.
• Track and manage supplier selection and readiness on major projects
• Works directly with the Commodity Leads to ensure timely supply strategies are executed and communicated to ensure uninterrupted flow of high quality materials at the lowest total cost while optimizing service and inventory levels.
• Collaborates with program team experts to develop statements of work and overall business requirements/ standards for the Commodity Leads to include in Request for Quote (RFQ)/Request for Proposal (RFP) packages.
• Work with program teams to develop strategic cost reduction roadmaps in order to establish affordable program targets for carryover parts and NTEIs.
• Follows all plant safety rules and regulations.
Skills and Education

• B.A. or B.S. in related field and 5-7 years experience in purchasing raw materials and fabricated parts. CPM or CPIM and Lean manufacturing experience desired but not mandatory. Sourcing experience a plus. Certification in purchasing or materials desired.
• Experience in SAP Systems.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, strong project management/team leadership skills.
• Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word and MS Project.
