Payroll Specialist - Ilion, NY

Remington Arms is the leading manufacturer and seller of Sporting Firearms, Ammunition and Accessories in the country. We currently have an opening for a Payroll Specialist in our Ilion, NY facility.

Primary Responsibilities

Coordinates all functions of the payroll operation to ensure timely and accurate pay for all nonexempt employees.

• Maintain and check for accuracy all control total relative to year-to-date earnings for each nonexempt employee.
• Review and reconcile any difference quarterly for submission to Madison for tax/earnings report for government and process annually W-2 earnings records.
• Ensure file maintenance for increases, various deductions is properly authorized and compare input to payroll master to master update output.
• Prepare monthly reports for Madison Finance Department.
• Extend and code where necessary, all clock card hours by pay code.
• Assist employees in resolving discrepancy in pay or deductions.
• Interact with Madison regarding reporting discrepancies.
• Calculate cash advance data to ensure shorted employees are paid.
• Complete forms necessary for employment and earnings, pensions, and VTI severance calculations.
• Coordinate payroll operations for wage-roll employees for the target plants and confidential type work with Labor and Employee Relations impact.
• Review and verify inputs and receipts of time cards and data.  Resubmit any items not accurately inputted. 
• Follow all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, MSDS sheets, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
