The Unbeatable 870
Submitted: Oct 26, 2009

Last winter I was deer hunting during late December in west central Iowa. I go with a group of about fifteen guys that have a variety of different shotguns ranging from Benelli, Barretta, Browning, and Winchester. I am the only one of the bunch that uses an 870, an 870 Express Super Mag to be exact. On the last day of the season we were hit by the harshest blizzard I can remember in recent years. There were upwards of forty mph winds and snow being blown everywhere in below freezing temperatures. We could hardly see five feet in front of us outside of the timber, and snow was freezing onto the barrels and recievers of our guns. Unfortunately we had to call off the hunt early that day due to the increasingly bad weather, but when we all got back to the trucks to head home my shotgun was the only one whos action was not frozen shut. Everyone else was trying frantically to empty the shells from their magazines unsuccessfully while my 870's smooth pump action was working as well as the day I purchased it. Thank you Remington for making a shotgun that I can rely on when all others seem to fail.
