enforcement. We currently have an opening for a Materials
Science Engineer in our Research and Development Technology
Center located in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Responsibilities |

Conducts programs for studying structures,
characteristics and properties of various metals
such as steel, aluminum, titanium, tungsten, brass,
ceramics, composites and metal matrex.
Develops material specifications for production
components.
Plans laboratory testing of materials having special
characteristics to confirm feasibility of processes
and techniques for potential production
applications.
Prepares reports of materials studies for the
information of other engineers and requesters.
Guides technical staff engaged in developing or
selecting materials for a specific use in projected
product or device.
Reviews plans for new product and factors such as
strength, weight, and cost to submit material
selection recommendations ensuring attainment of
design objectives.
Confers with producers of materials such as metals,
ceramics, or polymers during investigation and
evaluation of materials suitable for specific
product applications.
Reviews product failure data and interprets
laboratory tests and analyses to establish or rule
out material and process causes.
Researches and analyzes data such as customer design
proposal, specification, and manuals to determine
feasibility of design or application.
Design products, parts or systems for introduction
into the sporting arms and ammunition marketplace.
Designs products and systems to interface machines,
hardware and software.
Plans and directs support personnel in fabrication
of test control apparatus and equipment and develops
methods and procedures for testing products or
systems.
Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation
activities to ensure products and systems conform to
engineering design and customer specifications.
Directs and coordinates activities involved in
application, operation, and repair of products and
systems.
Evaluates field and manufacturing issues and
recommends design modifications to eliminate same.
Manages development projects to their completion by
documenting and transferring manufacturing data to
the Production Organization.
Prepares technical reports for use by Engineering or
Management personnel for long and short range
planning or for use by Marketing personnel in sales
or technical services activities.
Duties include but are not limited to: product
conception; component/assembly design; detailed part
modeling; interface with outside vendors; prototype
builds, schedule generation; budget
responsibilities; interface with all levels of
management.

| Skills and Education |
| |
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or
Metallurgical Engineering from a 4-year accredited
or nationally recognized college or university.
Firearms or ammunition related experience a plus. |
