Accounting and Systems Manager, Advanced Armament Corporation - Norcross, GA

Responsible for insuring the accuracy and timeliness of the Trial Balance, all general accounting related information, and the monthly closing activities including the establishment and initiation of all necessary policies and procedures required to accomplish this task.

Primary Responsibilities

• Performs the daily activities associated with general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, tax and Information Systems functions for the AAC Facility under the direction of the FGI Assistant Controller.

• Responsible for cash management and serving as the IT Lead.

• Audits the effectiveness of all accounting processes identifying areas of weakness in internal controls and subsequently developing and instituting improvements where necessary.

• Responsible for the financial and informational integrity of the General Ledger.

• Follows formally, all necessary policies and procedures required to insure the accuracy and timeliness of all general ledger transactions and reporting.

• Acts as the liaison with FGI Corporate Accounting on all general accounting issues including but not limited to establishment and adherence of mutual monthly closing activities and development of overall company policy relating to Trial Balance activities.

• Acts as the liaison with FGI Treasury department on all Treasury related issues.

• Acts as the liaison with FGI Tax department on all tax related issues.

• Acts as the liaison with Corporate Information Technology department on all IT systems related issues.

• Responsible for the timely completion of Trial Balance account reconciliations including the submission of said to Corporate Accounting on a monthly basis.

• Performs analysis such as inventory costing and departmental spending; involved in financial operations forecast, annual physical inventory; annual plant operations budget, and other tasks as required.

• Responsible for all Cost Accounting functions ensuring proper valuation of inventory accounts.

• As a part of the plant management team, is required to follow and enforce all established company policies and procedures.

• Follows all plant safety rules and regulations.

• Establishes and maintains standard costing system.

• Analyzes any manufacturing variances

• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA and Information Systems experience preferred.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

• Ability to effectively present information to all levels of employees, including top management.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, mathematical schedule or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Ability to solve practical problems, and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Strong and demonstrated ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office software - primarily Word and Excel.

• Experience with QuickBooks preferred but not required.

• Government contract accounting experience and working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) preferred, but not required.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Effective administrative and interpersonal skills.

• Must be a team player and have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues.

• Solid analytical and problem solving skills.

• Must be self motivated (able to work with little or no direction) and highly detail oriented.
