Enterprise Data Architect

Lead responsibility for the design, delivery and maintenance of a data architecture model by ensuring integrity and integration of information across all key systems throughout the enterprise. The mission is to achieve world class business intelligence, and drive “one source of informational truth”. As such, the candidate will develop and manage a strategic data integration roadmap and oversee IT initiatives that are aligned with these goals and assure they are completed with the highest level of quality.

Candidate must demonstrate a very dynamic and proven track record where they provide thought and project delivery leadership in the areas of enterprise data integration, business intelligence and analytics, and CRM solutions within a consumer products and/or manufacturing environment. Key applications at Remington Arms include SAP (ECC version 6.0), SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (SAP BPC, formerly Outlooksoft), and Salesforce.com.

Primary Responsibilities

• Performs a key management and thought leadership role in the areas of BI, data warehousing, data analytics, and enterprise data and application integration.

• Defines and achieves the strategy roadmap for enterprise data management and reporting methodologies, tools, and technologies. This includes setting vision, gathering requirements, gaining business consensus, performing vendor and product evaluations, mentoring business and IT resources, delivery solutions, training and documentation.

• Ensures the integrity of data between SAP, BI, and the SFA tools.

• Delivers and manages complex integration projects by leveraging the emerging trends in integration, middleware and distributed computing.

• Acts as the company expert in ETL, OLAP, and physical/logical data modeling.

• Gathers and articulates business and information requirements from business analysts across the various functional and business areas.

• Manages the architecture for Extract Transform and Load (ETL) design and processes that are required to keep enterprise applications well integrated.

• Designs and creates data architecture and collaborates with peers to translate the solution into a logical and physical data model, culminating in flexible end state solutions that can evolve with, and anticipate, future business needs.

• Revises and documents the existing and future data models, evaluates and redesigns the data flow and application processes, resulting in better performance, cost-effectiveness, scalability and high availability.

• Defines all standards, processes, procedures and tools required to support, maintain, manage and enhance the data flow across the various systems, data federation and metadata layers.

• Develops user manuals in order to describe installation and operating procedures.

• Analyzes and assesses the impact of production system changes and new business requirements to the existing data architecture.

• Leads and directs the work of others within the IT department in a technical capacity.
Skills and Education Required
 
  • BS/BA Degree from an accredited College or University in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related. (CDMP) Certified Data Management Professional certification is helpful, but not required.

• 10+ years of IT related work experience.

• 7+ years in a Senior Analyst, Architect or equivalent leadership role.

• 5+ years in advanced reporting, data analytics and business intelligence solutions - ideally with SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (SAP BPC) - formerly Outlooksoft.

• 5+ years experience designing and implementing advance ETL tools and techniques.

• 5+ years experience and strong expertise in the consumer products or manufacturing industry spaces.

• 3+ years experience designing and implementing integration solutions for large enterprise applications.

• 3+ years experience working in SAP – preferably version 6.0.

• Must be extremely analytical and very comfortable with complex computer and data models.

• Demonstrated knowledge of SAP is required.

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should also have knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server; ASP. NET, Microsoft Visual Studio, and Microsoft .NET Framework.

• Strong knowledge of standards and specifications: XML, Java and .NET based messaging services, Web Services, etc. is required.

• Strong knowledge in data warehousing, data dictionaries, enterprise application integration, relational databases, ETL, SQL, metadata, data flow diagramming, data modeling, and multidimensional analysis.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems, Microsoft SharePoint Services and Windows XP are key.

• Exceptional and demonstrated leadership skills.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with senior development managers, architects and business analysts.

• Optimally, the candidate will have experience in sales force automation solutions – ideally with Salesforce.com.

• Highly proficient in enterprise data modeling and application integration techniques and technologies.

• Must have a strong operations mindset with and have worked as a developer.

• Must have extensive experience in developing logical and physical data models in a complex data environment.

• Must have working knowledge of relational databases and client-server concepts.

• Thorough understanding of current trends and available options in hardware, networking, caching technologies, disk storage subsystems and other hardware/software solutions that can be deployed to optimize the systems is required.

• Must demonstrate a solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and of business process best practices at both National and International levels.

• Ability to write complex documents that are concise and understood by multiple levels of the organization.

• Ability to utilize a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

• Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

• Ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Ability to solve and articulate solutions to highly complex problems and to work effectively in highly ambiguous and stressful situations.

• Ability to handle politically charged or otherwise nebulas situations while influencing the outcome towards effective and collaborative solutions.
